of the Year Award
Application Process
An Application form will be available to download from the VETIG website from 1 July 2010.
Closing date for applications: 30 August 2010
Short-listed applicants to be notified: 11 October 2010
Presentation ceremony: 20 October 2010
Applicants will be judged against the following criteria:- Approaches to training that influence, motivate and inspire learners to learn
- Respect and support for the development of learners as individuals
- Facilitator skills that have influenced and enhanced learning and training
- Needs identification was incorporated into programs or initiatives
- Innovative practices that were used to enhance learning experience and the impact on the learner.

Submission guidelines- Summary of the submission: no more than 200 words
- Contributions to the submission: no more than 150 words (from the RTO or a referees)
- Main submission: no more than 2000 words ( to address the 21 aspects of the 5 selection criteria - approximately 100 words per aspect)
- Three complete copies of submission to be provided
- Address the criteria personally
- Be supported by an RTO or an independent referee
- Be a member of VETIG (applicant may join at application)
- Must hold TAA 40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Certified copies of training-related qualifications (minimum of TAA40104 or TAE40110)
- Contact details of two trainees whom you have trained within the past 12 months and who are prepared to be interviewed about the learning environments you created for them. (This will apply only to shortlisted applicants if required.)

1.2 | Describe how you selected and used learning strategies that meet and exceeded the learners goals |
1.3 | Describe how you inspired and motivated learners through your own interpersonal skills |
1.4 | Describe any identified barriers to learning and how you overcame these |
| 2. Respect and support for the development of learners as individuals | |
2.1 | Describe how you overcame individual and group differences while maintaining support for learners |
2.2 | Describe your strategies for valuing and respecting individual learners |
2.3 | Describe how you customised strategies to meet organisational goals as well as the needs of individuals |
2.4 | Describe situations in which you encouraged diverse ideas and opinions and where learners were supported while expressing ideas |
2.5 | Describe how you supported underachievers in your programs |

3.1 | Describe how you model good practice in delivery techniques and trainer behaviour |
3.2 | Describe your application of advanced skills in presentation of ideas and concepts |
3.3 | Describe your choices and application of appropriate resources to match the learning strategies |
3.4 | Describe how you articulated and generated enthusiasm for learning and modelled the skills of a lifelong learner in the delivery situations |
