Trainers 
VETIG aims to foster excellence in competency-based training and assessment. To this end, we are seeking to define how such excellence can be described and measured. Some descriptors are listed below:

TABLE A

To ensure trainer excellence the following Knowledge, Attitudes, and Skills (KAS) would be considered the minimum required for trainers delivering accredited training other than Training and Assessment Units of Competency

Knowledge:-
  • Specific subject expertise
  • Adult learning principles
  • Instructional design
  • AQTF standards
  • Training and Delivery techniques
  • Learning styles
  • Equipment usage and training aids preparation
  • Evaluation and Validation processes
  • Management of training processes
Attitude:-
  • Respect for learners
  • Genuine ability to help people learn
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Enthusiasm
  • Support and encouragement
Skills:-
  • Conducting and leading discussions
  • Questioning techniques· Managing activities
  • Providing feedback and reinforcement
  • Handling difficult learners
  • Participant involvement
  • Communication skills
  • Adaptability
  • Using media
  • Monitor and judge the progress of the learner

TABLE B

Specific requirements are necessary for trainers delivering units of competency from the Training Package for Training and Education. To prepare potential trainers with the KAS as listed in Table A, TAE Trainers need to meet the additional requirements as listed in Table B.

Qualifications held:-
  • Minimum of 2 years, meeting the delivery and proficiency requirements
  • Vocational competencies at either Diploma or Cert IV level or both
Evidence of Effective Delivery:-
  • Number of training episodes in each year
    Training results
  • Trainee feedback
  • Success of programs (Validation)
Indicators of Proficiency:-
  • Work history (Variety of context – min 3)
  • Professional development activities (3 per year)
  • Referee acknowledgements
  • Code of Conduct compliance
Additional Requirements:-
  • Provide current resume
  • Willingness to attain business training recognition
  • Copies of qualifications
  • 3 referees willing to provide recommendations
  • Professional head shot (photo)
  • Willing to be coached by a certified Supervising Trainer
